Last night, the Philedelphia Eagles shocked, well, everyone, by executing an amazing comeback with a 65-yard touchdown punt return just as time ran out. With eight minutes left in the game, the Giants were up 31-10, and an Eagle victory seemed impossible. But, they played fiercely, scoring 28 points in the last 7 minutes of the game, ending victorious over New York and improving their record to 10-4. Kevin Boss, a tight end on the Giants, expressed the feelings of his entire team when he said “I’m in disbelief right now. I’m in shock.”
The New York Jets managed to pull themselves up following their last two embarrassing games against the Patriots and the Dolphins, by clinching a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and improving to 10-4. The Jets are following closely behind New England in the AFC East. This week’s win was a result of a major team effort, beginning with a 97-yard kickoff return, and ending with a tight defense. With nine seconds left, the Steeler’s QB Ben Roethlisberger had two narrow chances at a winning touchdown, but the Jets would not be defeated. The game ended at 22-17.
Meanwhile, the New England Patriots maintained their spot at the top of AFC East during a game against Green Bay. The final score of 31-27 was surprisingly close, though. “It certainly wasn’t one of our better games. We made enough plays to win. We have to play a lot better or our season won’t last much longer,” Bill Belichick, New England’s coach, told reporters after the game. The Patriots were pressured by the Packers during the first half, but the game turned when, an offensive lineman, ran a kickoff back for 71 yards. Brady said he’s “never seen anything happen so slow in my life. It was an unbelievable play. I would never imagine anything like that would happen. And it was a big play in the game.” Connolly weighs 313 pounds.
